Originally our plan was to sail up to Alaska but we got such a late start in the season that we needed to modify the plan. The season to sail up starts in June and ends by the end of August. We left on Aug 6th and could have made it, but that would have meant hurrying down the Inside Passage; alas we want to do it at an enjoyable, slow pace. The late start was because of so many things to be fixed on the boat… Even when we sailed to Hanalei we did not have a working depth sounder! So when we left, the end point was the north end of Vancouver island, but as you will see, we ended up changing it to Port Townsend as the crossing took longer than expected and we ran out of time. The new goal was to reach Port Townsend before Sep 4th, Howard’s 30th wedding anniversary so he’d be home at the latest on the 4th. Let’s see if we make it…
